Spectrasonics Omnisphere 3 — The Next Big Step

Updated: 25. October 2025

Table Of Contents

Spectrasonics has finally lifted the lid on Omnisphere 3, and it looks like a serious evolution of their flagship synth.

The new version brings a ton of improvements:

  • A huge new sound library (26,000+ patches)
  • 600 new morphing wavetables and expanded synthesis modes (FM, granular, analog drift, etc.)
  • Quadzone modulation for creative layering
  • A brand-new Global Macro system with smart one-click Mutations
  • 93 built-in FX — and now you can even use the FX rack as a standalone plugin
  • Full MPE support
  • Better browser, hardware integration, and workflow all around
  • and a lot more

All of this comes in the same 64 GB install size, which is impressive considering the amount of new content.

I’ve been a heavy Omnisphere user since the early days of the original Atmosphere synth, and it has always found a place in my setup — from ambient soundscapes to cinematic layers. It’s simply one of those “desert island” tools that keeps delivering.

I’m really looking forward to diving into the new version once it’s released, exploring how the new sound design tools and FX system fit into my current workflow. Expect a deeper dive and some hands-on impressions once I get my hands on it.

Release date: October 21, 2025

Upgrade: $199 USD / Full version $499 USD
