My goto VST synth must be Spectrasonics Omnisphere and with their latest update there seems to be no limits to what kinda sound you can create. And eventhough it is shipped with a very large soundlibrary, you sometimes needs something new, something refreshing. Often when I dont create tracks I tend to create new sounds for coming productions and its always nice to get some new inspiration. One of my goto inspirators must Matt Bowdler and his The Unfinished sound label/shop. He provides a wide variaty of great patches for Omniphere and more. His latest creation Gaikaiju for Omnisphere 2.6 is one of those great inspirering sound libraries. You get 500 patches and as he describes it himself ,
” Two of my favourite film soundtracks from 2017 were Dunkirk and Blade Runner 2049; and, given that both were written by Hans Zimmer and Ben Wallfisch, it finally struck me that it might be fun to create a soundset inspired by them.
The result of several months of obsessive listening and forensic synth programming is Omnisphere GaiKaiju.
This is a collection of epic, emotional sounds; packed with analogue energy and hybrid power. Huge synths, mesmerising soundscapes, tense impacts, dynamic sequences, battering percussion, kinetic effects and sumptuous synth textures.”
One of the things I like to do when I create patches using Omnisphere is to take a sound I find inspirering and use the sound lock feature to create new variations for further sound/patch creation.
Give Matt and his site a view and a listen:-)
